Hannover. Hannover United welcomes a new face in its Wheelchair Basketball Bundesliga team. With Amit Vigoda, one of the greatest talents in European wheelchair basketball is moving to Hanover and reinforcing the Foxes in the center position. "Amit Vigoda is a very young and very talented player. He has good all-rounder qualities", says United coach Martin Kluck.

Vigoda arrived in Hanover last Saturday and practiced with the team for the first time on Monday evening. "I am very happy that we are an interesting club for exciting players like Amit. He fits in perfectly with the philosophy we have been relying on for years", says Kluck.

A philosophy that also suits the new guy. "I talked to my friend Azael Shabo, who played for BG Baskets Hamburg some time ago, about the top teams in the 1st wheelchair basketball league - he also told me about Hannover United", says Vigoda. "Right now I would like to do what I love most. And that's playing basketball. For me, Hanover is the best place for it."

Vigoda started wheelchair basketball in the United States in 2012 at the age of ten. In 2015 he went back to his home country of Israel. There he played for the Israeli top club Ilan Ramat Gan from 2017 to 2020. In 2020 Vigoda moved again to the USA, where he studied at the University of Texas-Arlington and played wheelchair basketball. With the Movin ‘Mavs, he won the college championship in spring 2021 and was voted the most valuable player of the tournament as an MVP. At the U22 European Championships in Italy, he won the bronze medal with the Israeli junior team. The United newcomer was one of the most important players in the team and averaged 21.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
